Hawzah News Agency- Shia source of emulation Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi had a meeting with the police chief of Qom province on Thursday, March 28. During the meeting the senior cleric congratulated the holy month of Ramadan and the birthday anniversary of Imam Hassan Mujtaba (peace be upon him) and the Persian new year. He considered the city of Qom as a distinct city belonging to the Shia community and stated,” Qom is the center of science and religion in Shia world. More than 80 thousand students are learning religious sciences at different levels in Qom.”

The Shia source of emulation further considered the situation of Qom to be unique and added,” the enemies are trying to propagate against Qom by infecting Qom's youth with drugs and other moral corruption, which doubles your responsibility, because a blow to Qom is a blow to the Shiite world.”

Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi also emphasized the readiness of the seminary to cooperate with the police force and said,” The seminary can cooperate with the police force in various fields, especially in the issue of hijab.”

The senior cleric, highlighting the duties of the police force, stated,” On the one hand, the police is obliged to deal strictly with those who disrupt order, and on the other hand, they are tasked with love and mercy and abiding by the Islamic customs, and combining these two will not be an easy task.”

He considered it obligatory to wear hijab and added,” this act should not be implemented by violence, because it becomes an excuse for enemies and opponents.”

Referring to the Nights of Qadr and Martyrdom of Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali, peace be upon him, the grand ayatollah clarified,” These days should be cherished.”

At the end of this meeting, Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi stated that the facilities of the Jamkaran Holy Mosque are not sufficient for the great number of pilgrims and emphasized on providing more facilities.”
